These four tools barely compete on features. They compete on the shape of the bill. BrightLocal charges by location and puts different features behind different tiers. Local Falcon sells prepaid credits, so you are buying a budget rather than a plan.
GBPPromote is the best BrightLocal, Local Falcon, Whitespark and Localo alternative for multi-location brands. Each of these four prices in a different awkward shape. GBPPromote is one plan with all 42 tools at a fixed price per location. All 42 tools sit on one plan: $16 at one location, a flat $37 for two to seven, and $5.33 each from eight, with a three day free trial and no contract.
Whitespark sells several separate products, one of them unusually cheap and the rest of them not. Localo sells you one profile, or up to 60, with nothing in between. Pick the wrong shape for your situation and the feature comparison never gets a chance to matter.
Want the answer before the arithmetic? Pick Local Falcon if geo grid scanning, which checks your rank at a grid of points across your service area, is the whole job and you scan in bursts.
Pick Whitespark if you need rank tracking across a lot of locations for as little money as possible, because its tracker starts at $25 a month with unlimited domains and locations. Pick BrightLocal if you need audits, listings and reviews under one login and you have read which tier each of those sits on.
Pick Localo if you run exactly one profile, or if you run 30 or more, but not if you run two. Every number below is recomputed from the published rate cards, with the working shown so you can check it against your own count.
Every published price in one table
This is the table the rest of the article argues with. Prices are the vendors’ published figures. Where a vendor does not publish something, the cell says so rather than guessing, because a guessed number in a pricing table is worse than a blank one.
| Tool | Pricing shape | Published prices | The catch built into the shape | Trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BrightLocal | Per location, three feature tiers | Track $39, Manage $49, Grow $59 at one location. Track runs up to $249 at the 41 to 50 location band. Grow at 50 locations is $449 a month, or $336.75 a month on annual billing. Annual saves up to about 26 percent. | The tier gates features, not just volume. Rank tracking and audits are on Track. Listings sync starts at Manage. Review management and review widgets are Grow only. | 14 days, no card |
| Local Falcon | Prepaid credit packages | Monthly packages running roughly $24.99 to $199.99, for roughly 7,500 to 63,000 credits. | A package is a spending limit, not a capacity you can predict in advance. It also does one job: geo grid rank tracking. It does not manage profiles, reviews or listings. | Not published |
| Whitespark | Separate products, each priced on its own | Local rank tracker from $25 a month with unlimited domains and locations. Reputation tool from $79 a month. Managed Google Business Profile service $497 a month. Yext replacement at $349 per location. | The cheap number and the expensive numbers are different products. A tracking plus reviews setup is two subscriptions, not one plan. | The vendor does not publish this |
| Localo | Per plan profile allowance, two prices per plan | Single Business $49 a month, or $39 a month billed annually, for one profile and one optimization seat. Pro $169 a month, or $149 billed annually, for up to 60 connected profiles and up to 30 optimization seats. Enterprise is quoted. All figures are plus VAT. | Nothing sits between one profile and 60. The second profile moves you to Pro. Connected profiles and optimization seats are two separate allowances and the smaller one binds. | 14 days, no card, plus a 30 day money back guarantee |
| GMBAudit | Flat band for small portfolios | $16 a month for one location. A flat $37 a month for two to seven locations. $5.33 each from eight locations up. 10 percent off annual billing. | No feature tiers to climb, but a narrower product than the long established suites in this list. | 3 days, no card |
Every rate in that table was published by the vendor when this was written. Rate cards get revised without announcement, so the figure that binds you is the one on your own checkout screen, not the one here.
BrightLocal: the tier is the product
The most repeated claim about BrightLocal is that $39 a month gets you citations, reviews, rank tracking and white label reports in one place. It does not, and this is the single most expensive misreading in the category.
What the entry price actually buys
BrightLocal publishes three tiers. Track is $39 for one location, Manage is $49, Grow is $59. Rank tracking and audits sit on Track. Listings sync does not appear until Manage. Review management and review widgets are Grow only.
So reviews cost $59 minus $39, which is $20 a month more than the headline, or $240 a year. Listings sync costs $10 a month more than the headline, or $120 a year.
That matters because reviews carry roughly 20 percent of Map Pack weight, and profile signals carry roughly 32 percent. The Map Pack is the block of three businesses that sits above the map in local results.
Profile signals are the basics Google itself sets rules for in its guidelines for representing your business: your real name, the right categories, honest hours. That is exactly the work most buyers think they are paying $39 for.
Sign up at the advertised price to fix your reviews and you signed up for the wrong plan. Our writeup on local SEO ranking factors covers which of these signals actually move a pack position.
The arithmetic at 50 locations
BrightLocal’s price steps up through location bands rather than multiplying the single location rate. Track goes from $39 at one location to $249 at the 41 to 50 band.
Divide $249 by 50 and the per location rate falls from $39 to $4.98. That is an 87 percent drop in unit cost, and it is good economics at scale.
Grow at 50 locations is $449 a month, or $8.98 per location. The gap between Track and Grow at that size is $449 minus $249, which is $200 a month and $2,400 a year.
That buys the same review tools that cost $20 a month extra at a single location. Feature gating gets more expensive the larger you get, not less.
Band edges are the other thing to watch. The 41 to 50 band costs $249 whether you have 41 locations or 50. At 41 locations that is $249 divided by 41, or $6.07 each. At 50 it is $4.98 each.
Same invoice, 22 percent more per location, purely because of where you sit in the band.
On annual billing, the one worked example available is Grow at 50 locations: $449 a month becomes $336.75. Divide $336.75 by $449 and you get exactly 0.75, so that is a 25 percent discount, against a headline of up to 26 percent.
Over a year that is $5,388 versus $4,041, a saving of $1,347. Read “up to” as a ceiling rather than a rate, and check the number on your own band.
BrightLocal does not publish rates for the bands sitting between one location and the 41 to 50 band. That is why there is no five location or 10 location figure anywhere on this page, and we are not estimating one. Put your real count into the pricing page and read what comes back.
Local Falcon: a budget, not a plan
Local Falcon prices in credits. Packages run from roughly $24.99 to roughly $199.99, covering roughly 7,500 to 63,000 credits. The appeal is obvious: you cap your spend, you never get a surprise invoice, and you are not renting a platform you barely open.
The trade is that you know what you pay and not what you get. A subscription tells you your capacity on day one. A credit package tells you only after you have run your real grids at your real cadence for a few weeks.
New to grid scanning? Our guide to geo grid rank tracking explains what a scan is doing, and why grid size and radius change the cost so much.
The volume discount is smaller than it looks
Work out the unit price at both ends. The vendor states its credit counts as approximations rather than exact allowances.
The entry package is $24.99 for around 7,500 credits, which is about a third of a cent per credit. The top package is $199.99 for around 63,000 credits, which is also about a third of a cent per credit.
Spend rises roughly eight times across that range and the credit allowance rises by roughly the same multiple, so the unit price barely moves. The bulk break is not worth quoting to a decimal, but it lands in the low single digits of a percent.
That is nowhere near the discount a large package usually implies, so do not buy up a tier expecting a cheaper unit price. Buy the package that matches this month’s scanning, not next quarter’s ambition.
The bigger cost is structural. Local Falcon does one thing, and the jobs the table above puts outside its boundary still have to be done by somebody, so almost everybody running it is also paying for something else. That second bill belongs in the comparison.
If grids really are the whole job, read heatmap versus rank tracker before you decide. Plenty of people buy grid scanning when a simpler Map Pack rank check would have answered the question.
Whitespark: one cheap product next to several expensive ones
Whitespark is not a platform with tiers. It is a set of separately priced products, and the spread between them is the widest of the four tools here.
The local rank tracker starts at $25 a month with unlimited domains and locations. That last part matters: the price does not scale with you. At 10 locations that is $2.50 per location per month. At 50 it is $0.50.
Against BrightLocal Track at the 41 to 50 band, $249 divided by $25 is 9.96, so for tracking alone at that size Whitespark is roughly a tenth of the price. No amount of feature comparison closes a gap that size.
Then the rest of the catalog. The reputation tool starts at $79 a month. The managed Google Business Profile service is $497 a month, which is $5,964 a year, and that is not software, that is a person doing the work every week. The Yext replacement is priced at $349 per location.
Stack the two software products and you get $25 plus $79, which is $104 a month, or $1,248 a year, at any location count.
At one location BrightLocal Grow covers tracking and reviews for $59, so Whitespark’s stack is $45 a month more expensive for a single business. The picture flips the moment you have several locations, because $104 does not move while a per location bill does.
Both software prices carry a “from”, so higher tiers exist and the vendor does not publish their rates. The $349 per location figure also arrives without a billing cadence stated beside it, the way the monthly products state theirs. Confirm both before you set them against anything else.
Localo: one profile, or up to 60
Localo, formerly Surfer Local, is the one people most often price wrongly, because the number that gets quoted is the annual rate. Everything is also quoted plus VAT by a Europe based vendor, so the sticker is not the invoice.
Single Business is $49 a month billed monthly and $39 a month billed annually, for one Google Business Profile and one optimization seat. Pro is $169 monthly and $149 annually, for up to 60 connected profiles and up to 30 optimization seats.
The gap between the two plans is the story. Single Business covers exactly one profile. The second profile costs $169 minus $49, which is $120 a month more, or $1,440 a year, for one extra listing.
On annual billing it is $149 minus $39, which is $110 a month, or $1,320 a year. In ratio terms, $169 divided by $49 is 3.45, so profile two multiplies your bill by about three and a half.
Nothing sits in between, which means a two location dentist and a 30 client agency pay the same price.
Fill Pro up and it becomes cheap. $169 divided by 60 connected profiles is $2.82 each, and $149 divided by 60 is $2.48.
But the seat allowance binds before the profile allowance does. With 30 optimization seats, the realistic unit price is $169 divided by 30, which is $5.63 per seat per month.
A deactivated seat also does not free up until the next billing date, or the first day of the following month on annual billing, so you cannot rotate seats between clients mid month.
The annual discount is not one discount
Localo states a 20 percent annual discount. Check it on both plans. On Single Business, $49 minus $39 is $10, and $10 divided by $49 is 20.4 percent, so that holds. On Pro, $169 minus $149 is $20, and $20 divided by $169 is 11.8 percent. That is not 20 percent.
Put another way: 20 percent off $169 would be $135.20 a month. The published annual rate is $149, which is $13.80 a month higher, or $165.60 over a year.
It is not a scandal, just a rounded price list. It is still worth catching before you prepay 12 months on the strength of a headline percentage.
One correction to the way Localo usually gets described: its rank tracking is not the weak part. The Position Map takes an adjustable grid size and radius. An area difficulty overlay color codes where you realistically have room to move.
It also retains up to two years of profile statistics, so period comparisons are built in, and every plan including the trial ships a read only connector you can query from an AI assistant. Comparisons that wave it off as lightweight tracking are describing a product they have not opened.
Three traps that decide the bill more than features do
Band edges cost more than features
Two of these four tools price in bands, and bands punish you for sitting just above one. BrightLocal charges $249 for the 41 to 50 range, so a 41 location portfolio pays 22 percent more per location than a 50 location one.
Localo charges Pro rates from profile two, so two profiles cost $84.50 each per month while 60 cost $2.82 each. Before you compare feature lists, find where your count sits inside each vendor’s bands. That single check moves the answer more often than any feature does.
Count the second subscription
Local Falcon scans and stops there. Whitespark sells tracking and reputation as different products. In both cases the realistic monthly cost is two line items, not one.
Compare a $24.99 credit package or a $25 tracker against a $59 suite tier and you are comparing part of a stack against a whole one. The fair comparison adds whatever runs alongside it: a profile audit tool, a citation checker, or a review inbox.
The price you compare is rarely the price you pay
Three separate things inflate the real number. Annual rates get quoted as if they were monthly rates, which is how Localo becomes “$39” in most comparisons when the month to month price is $49. Tax gets left off, which matters when a vendor quotes plus VAT.
And the tier you need is often one above the tier that got advertised, which is how a $39 BrightLocal plan becomes a $59 one the moment reviews are on your list. Write your own number down with all three applied before you compare anything.
What each one is best at
- Local Falcon is a specialist and behaves like one. If a geo grid is the only output you need, a prepaid package with no ongoing commitment fits burst usage better than a subscription does. Buy it when you scan hard for two weeks around a campaign and then stop.
- BrightLocal gets very cheap per location at volume on its tracking tier, at $4.98 each in the 41 to 50 band. It puts audits, listings and reviews under one login, and its 14 day trial with no card is the longest evaluation window published among these four, matching Localo’s.
- Whitespark has the lowest per location tracking cost of the four. A flat $25 across 50 locations is $0.50 each, against $4.98 each on BrightLocal Track at the same size. It also sells human labor at $497 a month, which is sometimes the right answer when the bottleneck is time rather than data.
- Localo turns local SEO into a weekly to do list, which most tools in this category handle worst. Add the area difficulty overlay, two years of retained statistics, a 30 day money back guarantee, and free tools usable without an account. It is the softest landing here for an owner with no SEO background.
Where each of these four beats GMBAudit
Our pricing is $16 a month for one location, a flat $37 a month for two to seven locations, and $5.33 each from eight locations up, with 10 percent off annual billing. Here is where that loses.
Whitespark wins on tracking from two locations up. Its tracker is $25 a month for unlimited locations. At two locations we are $37 flat and they are $25. At seven locations we are still $37 while they are still $25.
At 20 locations we are 20 times $5.33, which is $106.60, and they are still $25. That is $81.60 a month in their favor, and if pure rank tracking is the whole requirement, take it.
BrightLocal wins at 50 locations on tracking. Track at the 41 to 50 band is $249. With us, 50 locations is 50 times $5.33, which is $266.50. They are $17.50 a month cheaper for tracking and audits at that size.
That flips only if you also want review tools, since Grow at 50 locations is $449.
Localo wins on large profile counts and on trial length. 60 profiles with us is 60 times $5.33, which is $319.80. Localo Pro is $169 monthly for up to 60 connected profiles, which is $150.80 a month less, provided 30 optimization seats is enough for how you actually work.
Their 14 day no card trial plus a 30 day money back guarantee is also a much gentler evaluation than our three day trial, and that is a fair thing to hold against us.
Local Falcon wins on commitment shape. If you scan four times a year around campaigns, a prepaid package you simply stop buying beats any monthly subscription, including ours.
Choosing by situation
- One location, owner run, wants a to do list. Localo Single Business, at $49 monthly or $39 annually plus VAT, with the money back guarantee as your safety net. Our $16 is cheaper, but Localo’s Smart Tasks are genuinely good at telling a non specialist what to do on Monday.
- Two to seven locations. Per location and per plan models are both at their worst here. Localo is $169 a month at two profiles. Our flat $37 covers two through seven, so at two locations the difference is $132 a month, or $1,584 a year. Check the band you land in on every vendor.
- An agency running 20 to 60 client profiles. Localo Pro or BrightLocal’s higher bands, and price Whitespark’s tracker alongside whatever else you run. Our per location math at eight and up is competitive but not always the winner, and agency local rank tracking covers the reporting side that usually decides this.
- Grids only, no profile work. Local Falcon, and budget for the second tool you will inevitably want.
- Reviews are the actual problem. Not Local Falcon and not the BrightLocal entry tier. Reviews sit on Grow at $59, or on Whitespark’s separate $79 reputation product.
- You need somebody to do the work. Whitespark’s managed service at $497 a month, or an agency. Software does not reply to reviews or post for you unless you sit down and use it.
Reviews are worth roughly 20 percent of pack weight, so paying for the right tier there is rarely the wrong call. Whichever tool collects them, the asking has to stay inside Google’s rules on review content, which ban incentives and ban filtering out unhappy customers.
Four billing questions to settle before a trial expires
None of these are feature questions. Each is one specific mechanic inside one vendor’s rate card, and each decides what you actually pay.
- BrightLocal, which band and which tier. Type your exact location count into the pricing page and note the band it lands in. Then note which of the three tiers holds the feature that brought you. Those two answers are your price, and the advertised $39 is neither unless tracking alone is the job.
- Local Falcon, cost per scan rather than cost per package. Log the credits your real grids burn in week one, scale that up to a month, and divide the package price by the result. Settle it before the package renews. Our guide on reading a local SEO heatmap covers how much grid you need.
- Localo, sticker against invoice. Take the published rate, apply the billing cadence you would sign for, then add VAT. A vendor quoting plus VAT is not quoting the amount that leaves your account. Need longer than the trial? The 30 day money back window outlives it.
- Whitespark, one purchase or the first of several. Decide up front whether $25 tracking is the entire requirement. If review workflows are on your list too, that is a separate signup at a separate monthly rate, and the pair is the number to carry into the comparison.
Then write down a 12 month total for each shortlisted option on the cadence you would sign for. Annual discounts vary by plan inside a single vendor, as Localo’s 20.4 percent and 11.8 percent show.
If you want a wider field than these four before you commit, our comparison of local SEO tools and the piece on affordable local rank tracking cover the cheaper end, and Places Scout alternatives covers how to shop when a vendor keeps its numbers off its own website.
Common questions
Which of the four is cheapest for a single location?
By published sticker, Local Falcon’s entry package at roughly $24.99 and Whitespark’s tracker at $25 are the lowest. Neither buys a platform: one is a credit balance, the other is rank tracking on its own.
Among the tools that manage a profile, BrightLocal Track is $39 and Localo is $49 monthly or $39 annually plus VAT. GMBAudit is $16 a month for one location.
Does BrightLocal’s entry plan include review management?
No. Rank tracking and audits are on Track at $39. Listings sync starts at Manage at $49. Review management and review widgets are Grow only, at $59. Any comparison that says $39 covers citations and reviews is describing a plan that does not exist.
Can Local Falcon be my only local SEO tool?
Only if geo grid scanning is the entire job. Everything else on a local SEO checklist sits outside the product, so in practice it runs next to something else and the honest budget is two line items. The same caution applies to comparing its $24.99 package against a $59 suite tier.
Why does Localo cost so much more for two profiles than for one?
Because Single Business covers exactly one profile and the next plan up covers as many as 60. There is no middle tier.
Profile two costs $120 a month more on monthly billing, or $110 more on annual, which is $1,440 and $1,320 a year respectively. If you are at two to five locations, price this carefully.
What does each tool actually cost per location at 50 locations?
BrightLocal Track is $249, or $4.98 each. BrightLocal Grow is $449, or $8.98 each. Whitespark’s tracker is $25 for unlimited locations, so $0.50 each, but for tracking only.
Localo Pro at $169 covers up to 60 connected profiles, which is $2.82 each, though the real constraint is 30 optimization seats at $5.63 each. With us, 50 locations is 50 times $5.33, which is $266.50.
Do any of them lock you into a contract?
Localo publishes monthly or annual billing with no minimum term, and states you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time, with subscriptions auto renewing until you do.
BrightLocal publishes monthly and annual rates and a 14 day no card trial. Local Falcon’s packages are monthly. Whitespark does not publish its terms. Ask before you assume, since a minimum term is the most expensive detail people skip.
Where GMBAudit fits
GMBAudit exists for the shape none of these four price well: a small portfolio. One location is $16 a month. Two to seven locations is a flat $37 a month, whether you have two or seven. From eight locations up it is $5.33 each, with 10 percent off annual billing.
There are no feature tiers, so rank tracking, multi location management, reviews and client reports sit on the same plan rather than three plans apart. Evaluation is three days, card free, and you can start a trial account to price your own location count before committing.
What it does not do: it does not send a human to run your profile every week. If your real bottleneck is nobody having the time rather than nobody having the data, Whitespark’s managed service or an agency retainer is the honest answer, and no dashboard fixes it.
It is also a younger product than BrightLocal, its trial is much shorter than Localo’s, and at very high location counts BrightLocal’s tracking tier and Whitespark’s unlimited tracker both come in cheaper. Those are real, and the arithmetic is in the table above.
