---

An affordable local rank tracker is one whose bill still makes sense in month six, at the number of locations you will actually have, running the scan schedule you will actually keep. The price on the homepage does not tell you that. The pricing shape does.

There are three shapes in this market: credit metered, per location, and flat or banded. The same tracking job can cost $25 or $600 a month depending only on which one you signed.

The short answer, before the arithmetic. At one location almost everything is cheap and the choice barely matters, so pick one and go fix your profile.

At three locations, banded plans punish you, because several vendors sell one location and then jump straight to an agency tier. At 10, per location pricing is what hurts, because it multiplies.

Whitespark's local rank tracker starts at $25 a month for unlimited domains and locations. That is the cheapest published flat rate here, and it deserves saying plainly.

GMBAudit is $16 a month for one location and a flat $37 a month for two through seven, the shape that wins in the middle. Everything below is the math that gets you there.

## The three pricing shapes, and who each one punishes

Nearly every tool in this category uses one of three shapes. Which shape you buy predicts your future bill better than any feature list does. If you want the feature by feature version of this decision, that lives in [BrightLocal vs Local Falcon vs Whitespark vs Localo](/blog/brightlocal-vs-local-falcon-vs-whitespark-vs-localo/). This article is only about money.

### Credit metered

You buy a monthly allowance and every scan eats into it. Local Falcon sells packages running from roughly $24.99 for about 7,500 credits up to roughly $199.99 for about 63,000.

Local Dominator bundles credits into plans: 5,000 a month on the $39 Lite tier and 30,000 on the $97 Pro tier, with top ups at $100 for 10,000.

Semrush sells a standalone Map Rank Tracker at $30 for one campaign and 4,000 credits, then $10 for each extra campaign and $5 per extra 1,000 credits. Local Viking meters keyword credits and grid credits separately, on top of a listing cap.

Credit metering is fair to light users, and it is the only shape where an idle month costs you nothing extra. It punishes exactly one thing, a heavy fixed schedule, which is what most agencies actually run.

### Per location

You pay a rate and multiply it by your footprint. BrightLocal Track is $39 per location per month. Semrush Local is $30 per location on Base and $60 on Pro, shown at the annual rate.

GMBapi Essential is $16 for one location and $14 each in the two to 10 band. Moz Local runs $20 to $40 per location, though that is a listings product rather than a tracker.

At the top of the market, Birdeye is reported around $299 per location per month. Yext self serve runs $199 to $999 per location per year, annual billing only. Predictable per unit, unforgiving in aggregate.

### Flat or banded

You pay one number for a range of locations. Whitespark's rank tracker starts at $25 for unlimited domains and locations. Synup is $49 for exactly one location and $299 for two to 10. Localo is $49 a month for one profile and $169 for up to 60.

RightChoice.AI is $20 for up to two profiles, $30 for up to five, then $6 per profile on its agency tier. GMBAudit is $16 for one and a flat $37 for two through seven. Bands are cheap inside the band and expensive one location past its edge.

## The four numbers that decide your bill

Before you compare a single price, write down four numbers about your own operation.

- Locations you track.

- Keywords per location. Most businesses need fewer than they think, and [local keyword research](/blog/local-keyword-research/) usually trims the list rather than growing it.

- Grid points per scan. A 5 by 5 grid is 25 points, 7 by 7 is 49, 9 by 9 is 81. This is the geometry behind every [geo grid scan](/blog/geo-grid-rank-tracking/).

- Scans per month.

Multiply them and you have the size of your job. The worked example for the rest of this article is deliberately ordinary: five keywords, a 7 by 7 grid, scanned weekly. That is 49 points times 5 keywords times 4 scans, or 980 point checks a month per location.

Weekly is really 52 scans a year, about 4.33 a month, so add roughly eight percent if you want to be exact. Three locations is 2,940 point checks. 10 locations is 9,800.

### What one credit actually buys

Vendors do not define a credit the same way, so never compare two tools on price per credit without checking what a credit covers.

Semrush's free Map Rank Tracker tier gives a useful tell for at least one vendor: one campaign, one keyword, a 5 by 5 grid, 50 credits a month. A 5 by 5 grid is 25 points, so 50 credits is exactly two scans. One credit, one grid point.

Now do the division on the published packages. Local Falcon's entry package works out near a third of a cent per credit, and its largest package barely improves on that. Buying up that ladder gets you more credits rather than cheaper ones.

Local Dominator's Lite tier is closer to eight tenths of a cent per credit, while its Pro tier lands near a third of a cent. On that platform, moving up a tier is a real cut in the cost per scan.

Top ups are always the worst rate you can pay. Local Dominator's 10,000 credit top up is a full cent per credit, roughly three times its own Pro tier rate.

## One location, weekly scans

The job is 980 point checks a month. Here is what covers it, cheapest first, at monthly rates.

- **GMBAudit and GMBapi Essential:** $16.

- **RightChoice.AI Solo:** $20 monthly, $17 billed annually. Read the cap before you celebrate. Solo publishes 15 to 20 geo grid scans and 20 tracked keywords, Google Maps only. Five keywords scanned weekly is 20 scan runs, which is the cap on the nose.

- **Local Falcon entry package:** $24.99. The 980 credits you need is roughly an eighth of the 7,500 you bought.

- **Whitespark local rank tracker:** from $25.

- **Semrush Map Rank Tracker Basic:** $30 for one campaign and 4,000 credits.

- **BrightLocal Track, Local Viking Single, Local Dominator Lite:** $39 each.

- **Localo Single and Synup Solo:** $49 monthly, $39 billed annually.

The entire spread is $33 a month. That is a large gap in percentage terms and a small one in absolute terms, and it is not where a single location business should be spending its attention. Buy the one you will actually open and move on.

## Three locations, weekly scans

Now the job is 2,940 point checks a month, and the shapes separate.

- **Local Falcon:** $24.99, still inside the entry package.

- **Whitespark:** from $25, unchanged.

- **RightChoice.AI Business:** $30 monthly, $25 annually, covers up to five profiles.

- **GMBAudit:** $37 flat, and it stays $37 all the way through seven locations.

- **GMBapi Essential:** $14 each in the two to 10 band, so $42.

- **Semrush Map Rank Tracker:** $30 plus two extra campaigns at $10, so $50.

- **Local Dominator Advance and Local Viking Starter:** $59.

- **Semrush Local Base:** $90 at the published annual per location rate. Pro, which is where listings and review management live, is $180.

- **Localo:** Single covers exactly one profile, so three means Pro at $169 monthly or $149 annually.

- **Synup:** Solo covers exactly one location, so three means Premium at $299 monthly or $239 annually.

Two vendors ask $49 to cover one location. The moment you open a second door, one of them wants $169 and the other $299. That is roughly three and a half times over in the first case and six times over in the second, for one extra address.

Neither is being unreasonable. Both designed for a solo owner or a full agency and left the middle empty. If you run two to five locations, that empty middle is the biggest line item you can delete from your budget.

Honest note, since you can check it in a minute: at exactly three locations Whitespark at $25 and RightChoice.AI at $30 are cheaper than our $37. What our $37 buys is a rate that does not move as you go from two to seven, and profile, review and reporting work in the same login rather than a second subscription.

## 10 locations, weekly scans

10 locations at this cadence is 9,800 point checks a month. Same job, wildly different bills.

- **Whitespark:** from $25.

- **GMBAudit:** $5.33 per location per month from eight locations up, so $53.30.

- **Local Viking Starter:** $59 for 10 listings. The grid credit allowance on that tier is not published, and credits gate scan frequency independently of listing count, so confirm it before you commit to weekly.

- **RightChoice.AI Agency:** $6 per profile, so $60 monthly or $50 annually.

- **Local Dominator Pro:** $97 for 20 profiles and 30,000 credits, comfortably above the 9,800 the job needs.

- **GMBapi Essential:** $140.

- **Semrush Map Rank Tracker:** about $150. 10 campaigns is $30 plus nine at $10, and the 4,000 bundled credits leave you 5,800 short, which is six top up blocks at $5.

- **Localo Pro:** $169, which would also cover 60 profiles.

- **Local Falcon:** 9,800 credits no longer fits the entry package, so you move up a rung. The published ladder runs to about $199.99 for roughly 63,000 credits.

- **Synup Premium:** $299 monthly, which the vendor states as $29.90 per location.

- **Semrush Local Pro:** $600.

- **Birdeye:** reported near $299 per location per month at the annual rate, so roughly $2,990, and it is a reputation platform rather than a rank tracker.

From $25 to the high hundreds for the same 9,800 point checks. Nothing in that range is explained by scan quality. It is explained by shape.

If you are running this many locations for clients, the reporting side matters as much as the scanning side. [Agency local rank tracking](/blog/agency-local-rank-tracking/) covers how that workflow should be organized.

## What the same job costs at one, three and 10 locations

Tool | Shape | 1 location | 3 locations | 10 locations |

GMBAudit | Flat bands | $16 | $37 | $53.30 |

Whitespark rank tracker | Flat, unlimited locations | from $25 | from $25 | from $25 |

RightChoice.AI | Bands then per profile | $20 | $30 | $60 |

Local Falcon | Credit packages | $24.99 | $24.99 | above $24.99, ladder runs to $199.99 |

Local Dominator | Profile bands plus credits | $39 | $59 | $97 |

Local Viking | Listing bands plus credits | $39 | $59 | $59 |

Semrush Map Rank Tracker | Campaigns plus credits | $30 | $50 | about $150 |

GMBapi Essential | Per location bands | $16 | $42 | $140 |

BrightLocal Track | Per location ladder | $39 | ladder, rung not published | ladder, $249 at 41 to 50 |

Localo | Two tiers | $49 | $169 | $169 |

Synup | Location bands | $49 | $299 | $299 |

Semrush Local Pro | Per location | $60 | $180 | $600 |

Monthly billing rates in US dollars from published vendor pricing, except Semrush Local, whose own page shows annual rates. Credit driven rows assume the worked example above, five keywords on a 7 by 7 grid scanned weekly. None of these bands are contractual and every one of them was current only on the day we ran it, so put your own location count through each vendor's signup screen before you budget against this table.

## Whitespark deserves a straight answer

It would be easy to leave Whitespark out of a budget article. It should not be. A rank tracker from $25 a month with unlimited domains and locations is the flattest published line in this category.

If rank tracking is genuinely the only thing you need, that is very hard to beat on price at any location count above one.

Two honest qualifiers, both about scope rather than price. The published figure is a starting rate, so confirm what the entry tier includes for keywords and scan volume before you plan around it.

The second is that Whitespark puts a catalog in front of you, not a suite. Its reputation tooling carries a price of its own from $79 a month, and the managed services sit well above that again.

If you also need review workflows, posting and profile management, you are pricing two or three subscriptions. That total is the number to compare, not the $25.

## When the right price is zero

Plenty of businesses do not need a subscription at all. If you run one location, change something on your profile every few weeks, and want to know whether it moved anything, an occasional manual check is the correct spend.

Our [local map pack rank checker](/tools/local-map-pack-rank-checker/) shows where you sit in the Map Pack, the block of three businesses above the map. The [Google rank checker](/tools/google-rank-checker/) covers the organic side below it. Both are free and neither asks for a card.

That pair answers "am I showing up" for a single location business, and [how to check Google Maps rankings](/blog/how-to-check-google-maps-rankings/) walks through doing it properly.

What free checks do not give you is history, an automatic schedule, and a record you can put in front of a client or a partner. The moment you need to prove a change worked over eight weeks, you need something that scanned on the weeks you forgot.

That is the real line between free and paid. Read [heatmap vs rank tracker](/blog/heatmap-vs-rank-tracker/) before assuming you need the more expensive of the two.

## The cheapest ranking work is not a tool at all

Budget articles in this category tend to skip the part where the software is not the lever. The rough Map Pack weightings, set out in full in [local SEO ranking factors](/blog/local-seo-ranking-factors/), put your profile fields ahead of anything a tracker can report.

Those fields have to follow Google's own [guidelines for representing your business](https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038177), and [your review flow](https://support.google.com/business/answer/3474122) counts too. The edits that move both are free.

There is a direct budget consequence. A denser grid buys a better picture, not a better rank. Widening a scan from 7 by 7 to 9 by 9 takes you from 49 points to 81. That adds about two thirds again to what you are metering and will not move you a single place.

Spend the difference on [profile optimization](/blog/how-to-optimize-google-business-profile/) instead. For the wider budget picture, see [what a Google Maps presence actually costs](/blog/google-business-profile-cost/).

## Three ways a cheap plan turns expensive

### The cap you did not price

Headline prices come with quiet ceilings. RightChoice.AI's Solo tier caps geo grid scans at 15 to 20 a month. Local Viking meters credits independently of its listing cap, so you can be well inside your listing allowance and still out of scans.

SearchAtlas caps profile automations at three a month on its $99 Starter tier. In each case the cap, not the price, decides whether the plan does your job.

### The top up

Every credit system sells emergency credits at a worse rate than planned ones. Local Dominator's 10,000 credit top up is $100. SearchAtlas sells 100 additional Hyperdrive credits for $99 and 500 AI generation points for $19. Semrush sells 1,000 map credits for $5.

None of those are outrageous on their own, and all of them arrive in the same week as a client deadline.

### The add on

The subscription is rarely the invoice. GMBapi's citations add on is $30 per location at one location, which takes a $16 plan to $46. Local Dominator's citations builder is $35 a month on top of any plan.

Semrush charges $10 for scheduled reports and $20 for the version without its branding, plus a per user fee that its Local pricing page and its main pricing page list differently.

Several platforms also gate the agency essentials by tier. BrightLocal keeps listings sync on Manage and review management on Grow, Synup starts white labeling at its $299 tier, and Local Dominator starts white label and API access at $97.

If branded reporting is part of your service, price it in from the start, using [white label SEO reports](/blog/white-label-seo-reports/) as the checklist.

## Trials, annual discounts, and the cost of leaving

Evaluation cost is real money too. 14 day trials with no credit card are published by BrightLocal, Localo, Synup and GMBapi. Seven day trials with no card are published by RightChoice.AI and Local Dominator.

Semrush's seven day trial requires a card. Local Viking publishes no trial at all, so evaluating it costs at least one month.

Annual discounts cluster in a narrow band. Semrush states up to about 17 percent. Localo, Synup, RightChoice.AI and GMBapi land around 20 percent or two free months. BrightLocal states up to about 26 percent, and GMBAudit is 10 percent.

Prepaying a year is a sensible saving after you have run a full month on a real profile, and a bad idea before that.

Then read the exit, because the clause that costs you money is not the one they show you. Yext will bill you annually or not at all, on minimum commitments of 12 or 24 months.

Birdeye ties renewal to a written notice window, and GMBapi will not let you leave until you have served a set number of months and then given notice on top. Both clauses are quoted in full in [our roundup of local SEO tools](/blog/best-local-seo-tools-2026/).

Synup and Local Dominator publish month to month terms, and Localo adds a 30 day money back guarantee. The cheapest exit on this page is the one you can take at the end of any month without writing anyone a letter.

## A five minute price check before you buy

- Carry one figure to every pricing page, the monthly point check total you worked out above. It is the only unit that puts a credit package and a flat plan on the same axis.

- Find the cap before the price. Scans, keywords, profiles, seats and credits are five separate ceilings and the lowest one is your real plan.

- Price the location count you expect in six months, not the one you have today. Band edges are where budgets break.

- Add the things you will genuinely use, reports without someone else's logo, citations, extra seats. Compare totals, never headline rates.

- Read the cancellation clause before the feature list.

- Run the trial on a real profile with your real keywords. A demo dataset proves nothing about your own market.

## What GMBAudit costs, and what it does not do

Our pricing is $16 a month for one location, a flat $37 a month for two through seven locations, and $5.33 per location per month from eight locations up, so 10 works out at $53.30. Annual billing takes 10 percent off. The trial is three days and does not ask for a card.

The shape is the argument. The rate does not move when you add a keyword or scan more often, and the middle of the market, the two to seven location business that every banded competitor overcharges, pays one flat number.

The [local rank tracker](/tools/local-rank-tracker/) and the [multi location report](/tools/multi-location-report/) are the two pieces most buyers open first.

What it does not do: there is no free forever plan, and the three day trial is shorter than the 14 day trials several competitors publish.

It is long enough to run real scans on your own profile and see the grid. It is not long enough to watch a ranking move, which takes weeks in any tool.

And no plan we sell, or anyone sells, changes the roughly 55 percent of pack ranking that proximity decides before anything else applies. If you sit outside the radius, a better tracker just tells you sooner.

If the shape fits, you can [start the trial](https://app.gbppromote.com/register). ## FAQ

### Is a cheaper rank tracker less accurate?

Accuracy is mostly a function of grid density and scan frequency, both of which you control and both of which you pay for directly. Price does not buy truth, it buys headroom.

What does vary between tools is sampling time and method, so two trackers will report slightly different positions for the same keyword on the same day. Compare a tool to itself over time and stop comparing tools to each other.

### Is a bigger grid worth paying for?

Usually not. Cost scales with the square of the grid width, so moving from 5 by 5 to 9 by 9 takes you from 25 points to 81 and more than triples that line of your bill.

A 7 by 7 grid answers the question most businesses are asking. Go denser only when your service area is genuinely large and you need to see where the edge of your visibility sits.

### How many keywords do I actually need to track?

Fewer than the plan allowance tempts you into. Track the handful of terms that bring paying customers, plus one or two you are trying to win, and let the rest go.

Every extra keyword multiplies through grid points and scan frequency, so a bloated keyword list is the most common reason a cheap plan stops being cheap.

### Should I pay annually to save?

Only after a full month on a real profile. Discounts in this category run from about 10 percent to about 26 percent. That is real, but not large enough to justify committing to a tool you have used for three days.

Check what annual actually locks. Some vendors treat it as a discount you can walk away from at renewal, and others treat it as a term.

### Do I need a separate tool for reviews and posts?

Only if the tracker you chose does not include them, which is common in the cheapest tier.

A tracker at $25, a reputation product at $79 and a listings subscription on top is a bigger monthly number than most single platform plans, and it is three logins. Add the totals before deciding the specialist stack is cheaper.

### What is the cheapest way to see where I rank right now?

Free. Run the [local map pack rank checker](/tools/local-map-pack-rank-checker/) for your main keyword, then the [Google rank checker](/tools/google-rank-checker/) for the organic listing underneath. If the answer is stable and you are not reporting to anyone, you do not need a subscription yet.
